This is a sculpture relief made from copper wire. It is the profile of the late Shah of Iran as he appeared on Pahlavi coins. I’m still working on it.
The Mourning mothers
I modeled this sculpture with clay and cast it in plaster. It is titled Mourning mothers. It is a homage to the Mourning mothers group in Iran i.e. mothers whose political children were executed by the regime and turned to a protest group.
Roger Phillippo
Roger Phillippo is a Cambridge based Artist. I met him when I went to one of his “Open Studio” days. Every year Cambridge based Artists Open up their studios for the public.
I mentioned that I am an Artist too and discussed one my glass based projects. He was very friendly and insightful.
Roger works with Ceramics and Glass. His earlier career was mainly in glass. His studio is packed with beautiful objects such as the one pictured here.
It was a real pleasure meeting someone who is so approachable and generous with his time. I was very impressed by a glass engraving that he had on display. He had done some major commissioned works using glass.

“I have no feelings” triptych
“I have no feelings” triptych is now complete. The sculpted frames are part of the Art work otherwise the paintings were done in oil.
The triptych is named after the famous response of Ayatollah Khomeini on an Air France plane and on the way to Iran. He was asked by a reporter how do you feel about going back to Iran and he responded ”I have no feelings”!
The triptych with the three parts shows the three stages of imprisonment, torture, and death.
The phrase ”I have no feelings” has been faded in each panel.
Silver Chinese Lion
I cast this in resin and painted it silver and gave it as a birthday present.
When I was 17 ( before the revolution when I had money in my pocket) I went to a Kensington antiques market and bought a pair of Chinese lions for £20.00 and later found that I was seriously ripped off. I saw the lions in almost every second hand shop selling for £5.00 and my friend who had followed this saga used to take the piss but we would have a good laugh over it.
Years later I made a cast and started making replicas of one of the lions and the first person to get a replica was that old friend who used to laugh. So as fate or time had it I’m getting my money back in gift value!
What is more, I’m planning to make 14 of these and use it as one of my DaGod pieces.
Van Gogh with a hat ( Art in progress)
My Vincent has been sitting in the garage/studio for a while. I used a filter to contrast the shadows and get a feel for it but he ended up looking slightly freaky. The idea is to bring famous paintings to life so I will cast and make a plaster copy and then paint it in the Vincent style.
