Abstract Orientalism is my invented Art school for 2012.
This is abstraction with Orientalist gestures, forms that exist in eastern rugs, poetry and illuminations. There is also the melancholy, Romanticism and seeking of nostalgia that one finds in the eastern cultures.

This is perhaps my favourite of the Abstract works that I have done. This particular work is a celebration of colour and the use of Persian letters in the core is for aesthetic reasons.
There is the influence of calligraphy and how form can produce a dance of shapes. From a cultural perspective even with your own culture there is always an element that seem to appear from a window outside, hence the name of this series.
The core colours create a contrast with the outer.
